My mini-vacation to Minnesota was AWESOME! And I also came
back 4.2 pound lighter. I’m under 400 again! Guess it helps to become
dehydrated at a music festival. It also helped that I was around people and I
eat less when I’m around others. I’ll give you a rundown of my weekend (minus
Thursday since I did manage to blog about that).
Friday
My friend Tracy and I had to pick up our friend Julie who
was flying in from Boston. The afternoon activity was attending Chris Daughtry’s
storytelling session that was ending a radio convention. There were about
twelve fans there among a bunch of radio industry people and I felt slightly
odd being there but that feeling went away the minute Chris took the stage. He
answered some questions and also sang two songs acoustically. His voice was
spot on and he was funny in his answers. Here is one of the pics I took.
Afterwards, Chris was kind enough to stick around to take
pictures with the fans that were in attendance. And I got my first Chris hug! Here
is my picture. (Sorry it's off center.)
Several of us fans then went to TGI Fridays for appetizers
and drinks. I had a peach sangria which was nummy but it was like $10!
Really???
That night we went to one of Tracy’s kid’s baseball game and
then Tracy, Julie, Tracy’s hubby, and I went to Applebee’s for appetizers and
drinks. I had a delicious chicken quesadilla and a couple margaritas. (I
typically only drink on Daughtry trips.). And then I biffed it on the way out. Embarrassing!
The floor was slick (it wasn’t the margaritas) and I went all flailing and
landed hard on my left knee and jacked my back up. My knee is all bruised and
hurts and walking will probably be on hold for a few days.
Saturday
Daughtry day! We had to be at the festival at 2:45 despite
Daughtry not going on until 10pm. We had VIP packages but we had nothing to do with
that until 6:30. It was hot but with a nice breeze and we sat in the shade of
the stage and watched LA Guns but I’d never heard of them and I had earplugs
in. It was then time to head to VIP which was a hurry up and wait situation. I
was a hot mess by that time so when the guys want to give hugs, I was all like “No!”
and just shook hands. Here’s my VIP picture.
We were then led in a group back to the stage area where
they had roped off a section for us in front of the stage. I was done by that
time and despite Daughtry being a rock show, I sat in the special chair I bought
just for the concert. I had a great seat though and here’s my favorite pic I
took.
The band was great – as usual – and Chris had so much
energy. It was also great to hear some songs I haven’t heard performed live
before (this is my 6th show).
Afterwards, we hopped a shuttle to where the car was parked
which was in a parking lot where there was a Domino’s. None of us had really
eaten at the festival so we ordered a pizza and tailgated in the parking lot at
12:30am. It was a good time and we were so hungry that we agreed that it was
the best pizza ever!
Sunday
Time to go home. The drive was fine; thank goodness for
phone GPS’s. I was glad to get home to see my baby kitties and Joey the cat was
ecstatic that I was home. He’s still in a cuddling mood. I was exhausted from the weekend and still hurt everywhere from my fall and all the standing we did on Saturday. I'm almost getting too old for these festival shows!
As I said, I came home 4.2 pounds lighter and am under 400
at 398.8. Now comes the hard part in keeping those pounds off and continuing to
lose.
I had a great weekend!
Dana :)
