Torturing the Scale

So I’ve lost at least nine pounds. I don’t know for sure; my scale went from OVERLOAD to registering a weight nine pounds less than the overload limit. I can’t say I’ve done anything special but I’ve been trying to eat only when I feel hungry instead of automatically eating at the usual times. And I’m trying not to obsess about having the right thing in the house to eat because that’s just ended up in me throwing perfectly good but outdated food away. That’s not to say I’m eating junk food (although there have been a few Taco Bell moments lately).

I keep Luna bars on hand and soup (I’ve learned that Pickerman’s delivers to West) and I’ve had to add bananas as I’ve been having leg cramp issues. And I’ve cut down my nighttime eating a lot. I wake up a couple times during the night and I usually had something to eat even though I might not have been hungry. Again, that’s what I’m trying to work on, eating only when I’m hungry.

I think Concerta (the “meth,” aka Ritalin) is helping. When I’m hungry I no longer feel like I need to eat everything in sight. My mood has remained stable so I’m hoping this medication is helping.

The next goal is to move more. I’ve noticed that I’m not so out of breath on the walk from my car to my classroom and back. It could be because I've been on prednisone since I popped all the cartilage in my ribs but I'm not sure. I have a ways to go on the movement side, however, and I’m going to set a daily goal of walking around my apartment. I also have ordered a Fitbit.

So that’s my latest update.
