Day 23 - Like a Turtle

It was so great to have a walking partner today. I believe we walked about 20 minutes which was 5 minutes longer than I’ve been walking. I’ve realized that I need to be a turtle when it comes to walking. Slow and steady towards increasing my time is better than just going for that half an hour and then dealing with the consequences. We’re going walking again tomorrow and I’m so thankful that I have someone to walk with! :) I just hope I'm not too much of a slowpoke for her.

I didn’t try again with the oatmeal for breakfast. Instead, I had a Kellog’s Flatbread Breakfast sandwich. I get the egg with vegetables and pepper jack cheese. They’re good and tasty. For lunch I was going to go for salad but I didn’t have any salad makings at home so the plan was to get the Southwestern chicken salad from McDonald’s. That something turned into a McChicken (although I’m not sure how much real chicken is in one of those things). I slipped and am owning up to it. I’m not hungry for dinner. Tomorrow no slippages! No culinary malfunctions!

I also forgot that I was only going to weigh myself on Mondays. I don’t think my OCD is going to allow that; weighing myself is part of my morning routine. Wake up, kiss the kitties, go potty, step on scale, check blood sugar. It just all naturally happens.

Out of Bed Blood Sugar: 116 (good)
Before Lunch Blood Sugar: 87 (good)
Before Dinner (let’s call this the 5ish PM check, now) Blood Sugar: 183 (HIGH and according to google my blood sugar can go up after exercising and I don’t have enough insulin so the glucose backed up in my blood. Learned something new today.)
